UPDATE: Council to supply wheelie bins to Domino’s in Pulborough

Wheelie bins will be supplied to a new fast food outlet in Pulborough after residents told the County Times rubbish bags were left on the street.

On Friday (July 24), the County Times reported that bags of food waste had been left outside the new Domino’s pizza store, which opened in the High Street on Thursday July 9.

However, the company said today (Monday July 27) that ‘no more refuse bags will be left on the pavement outside the shop with immediate effect’.

Nina Arnott, head of communications at Domino’s, said: “We would like to apologise to residents who have been upset by the current refuse collection system for our recently opened store in Pulborough.

“The Pulborough store premises does not have a rear collection point and so our store is required by Horsham District Council to put the waste out at the front of the store for collection.

“The council’s window for these collections is currently 5am – midday, which requires the waste to be left out the previous night in the council supplied green bags.

“These bags were only a temporary measure whilst a more permanent solution could be found, by working closely with the council.

“We are pleased to confirm that we have now found an improved solution using wheelie bins, which means that no more refuse bags will be left on the pavement outside the shop with immediate effect.

“We are committed to working closely with our neighbours in the local area and would like to thank them for their feedback on this matter.”

A spokesperson for Horsham District Council said: “Businesses have a duty of care to make sure that their refuse is securely stored until it is removed.

“Since being alerted to these problems, we have worked closely with Domino’s to find an alternative solution for trade waste collection from their restaurant.
